Timu zote hizo zimekuwa vinara wa kuanzishwa kwa mashindano hayo makubwa na yenye kipato kikubwa barani afrika kwa kuangalia mwenendo wa ushiriki wao hasa kwenye kufikia makundi ya ligi ya klabu bingwa Afrika,ubora na viwango vya pointi katika ushiriki. Kwa mantiki hiyo basi,katika kundi la kwanza lililoshirikisha kati ya Simba na Al Ahly kulingana na timu hizo kutoka sare ya magoli 2-2 jijini Dar na kurudiana jijini Cairo na kulazimika kufungana sare ya 1-1 kulingana na kanuni Al ahly itakutana na Mamelodi Sundowns iliyoifunga Atlentico de Luanda 2-0 katika mchezo wa kwanza uliochezwa nchini Angola na mchezo wa maudiano uliochezwa nchini Afrika ya Kusini timu hizo zilitoka sare ya 0-0. Klabu ya Simba sasa inarudi jijini Dar kuendelea na mashidano ya ligi Kuu ya NBC kabla ya kuanza kushiriki ligi ya vilabu bingwa barani afrika kwa kucheza na ASEC Mimosas ya Ivory Coast iliyopangwa kwenye kundi B lenye timu za Wydad,Jwaneng Galax,huku Al Ahly ikiwa kundi D lenye kundi la CRBeloizdad ya Algeria,Medeama ya Ghana na Young Africans ya Tanzania.
